Budapest From Castle Hill

Budapest From Castle Hill looks across the Danube towards the Hungarian Parliament Building and the city beyond.

The Parliament building dominates the riverbank, surrounded by the warm colours and varied architecture of the city. Above it, a huge expanse of blue sky is broken by sweeping clouds in shades of white, violet and deep blue, giving the painting a sense of movement and changing light.

The cool turquoise and blue of the Danube contrast with the warmer buildings along the waterfront, while small details of boats, trees and rooftops draw the eye through the city.
