Malta

This original aerial landscape painting captures the distinctive patchwork of Malta’s farmland as it stretches towards the Mediterranean Sea. From above, fields, roads and villages form a striking mosaic of geometric shapes, softened by the changing light and the deep blue coastline beyond.

Rather than focusing on a single landmark, the painting celebrates the rhythm and structure of the landscape itself. Contrasting colours, simplified forms and intersecting lines create a balance between abstraction and representation, inviting the eye to wander across the land before finally meeting the horizon.

Inspired by my own aerial photographs taken while travelling over Malta, this contemporary landscape explores the patterns created by cultivation, settlement and the natural coastline. Framed and ready to hang, it is part of my continuing series of paintings inspired by the changing view from above.
